  • We've stayed here previously(5 times) for one night before crossing to France. Still very good value and central to the town but-the hotel now charges £3.50/day(payable on site) extra for parking.

We were surprised at having to pay an extra £3-50 per day for car parking charges which was thought rather poor as we were paying Hotel guests. The Reception area was very shabby and smelt damp. Check-in was chaotic to say the least and our Room information and location wasn't explained fully to us. I'd specifically asked if I could have a room near to my family as I was a lone female and this was ignored and I was in a different wing of the building completely. When we queried this we were not too politely told that the Hotel was fully-booked. We had to accept this and we went to my family's room first at approx. 2.45.p.m. to be told by a Domestic that their Room wasn't ready and we should come back in 10 minutes. We decided to go and see my Room and for my family who are both over 70 years old, to wait in the comfort of my Room. After 25minutes their Room still wasn't ready and we went to inform Reception. They impolitely told us that 'check-in' was after 3.p.m. and they'd been busy. Our printed sheet said 'check-in' was after 2.p.m. and they'd checked us in already at 2.40.p.m.
No WiFi all weekend and lots of people mentioned this to Reception staff.
Luckily, the weather was very nice which helped and we are people who try to make the most of all situations.
Area around the Hotel, very shabby, rundown and lots of rubbish i.e. dirty mattresses, furniture etc.dumped at the back of the Hotel. Would not recommend the Hotel or area to anyone.

Top Tip: Nothing - very rundown and shabby area with lots of dumped rubbish, lots of people sleeping rough and drinking in the Street outside the Hotel and this was from 10.00.a.m.

Rooms need refurbishing, stains on carpet, wallpaper held together by a large painting, shower head had to be repaired by maintenence staff. Entertainment good and so was the food. Not very pleased with parking fees, not many parking spaces either.
