This hotel is on the promenade and close to shops and public transport.
The hotel room was pleasant with hairdryer, trouser press etc.
Breakfast was buffet style and the food excellent.
In the evening in there was a piano bar which was pleasant a change from background music
Top Tip: Get a rover ticket for £16 which allows you freedom to travel all over the island by bus or train and on the horse tram, On a clear day take the tram up Snae fell

Experienced a long week end, The Empress is perfectly placed, beautiful sea-views, great location -staff are very experienced, helpful and friendly. Rooms are spacious, and bathrooms well equipped.
Communial areas excellent and lounge and bar very comfortable with sea-views. We stayed Bed & Breakfast, buffet breakfast, very good selection.
Wifi in communial areas good, it does also work in the bedrooms, however the signal can be low.- Wifi is free.
We would certainly recommend this hotel - however only rated as 3 star, it could be rated as a 4 star in our opinion.
Thanks for a lovely 5 day mini-holiday, would certainly like to return in the near future.
Uncle & Nephew. - Nephew used the gym- reasonable equipment to keep those extra pounds off- whilst eating excellent IOM food.

Good well appointed if a little dated. Poor first impressions as when we arrived at 215pm on the friday we were told that we could not check in which created a negative impression. Once the magic hour of 3pm arrived we were checked in and shown to our room which was comfortable and quiet to the rear of the hotel on the second floor although our "double " consisted of two single beds pushed together. On the whole however staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the hotel twice, once in the Conservatory restaurant with prices commensurate for a 3Star but with reasonable food and excellent house wine and once in the downstairs buffet where the choice of chinese and indian dishes was good but some of the dishes suffered from reheating from earlier sessions. Breakfast buffet was always very well serviced and tea/coffee served at the table by very friendly efficient waiters. I took advantage on the last morning to have individually cooked porridge and delicious Manx kippers. reception very helpfully allowed us to keep our luggage in store as we had an afternoon flight and also arranged for a porter to carry our suitcase down the stairs to pvement level.
Top Tip: Harbour lights tea shop and restaurant, in market street ,weekend dinner only for good value 3 course dinner and delicious queenies.
