4 Star Hotel

One of the most outstanding features of the Cumberland Hotel London is its substantial size; it has more than 1,000 rooms, four restaurants and bars including the The Brasserie Restaurant & The Carbon Bar.

This luxury London hotel is steeped in history and prides itself on its high levels of service and the comfort it offers as it seeks to ‘inspire, enthral and amaze’. King George V and Queen Mary were even in attendance for the venue’s grand opening ceremony.

Today, the hotel brings together an impressive style mixed with contemporary aspects, with sculptures and paintings dotted around the building, while the bedrooms and dining rooms are also modern in their design and furnishing. And all this right at the heart of London near to its array of other centrally placed hotels, as well as its numerous exciting attractions, places to visit and sights to see. The Cumberland Hotel is one of e-travelguide's most popular establishments in the heart of the nation's capital.

We thought the dining room was very large and impersonal but the hotel supplied a very good value and very varied breakfast and you could eat as much as you wanted.
Top Tip: Convenience of the tube to the hotel just a few doors from hotel.

I had five nights at The Cumberland. For me it is perfectly situated with Oxford Street to the left, Hyde Park opposite and through the park to Knightsbridge. Perfect for those who want to shop. Could not be closer to a tube station. The rooms where a good size for London and were very quiet considering the traffic around Marble Arch. My room was to the side and fourth floor so maybe that helped. Breakfast was no better nor worse than I expected from a buffet, for those wanting a full English it is available. For an extra charge you can have waiter service a la carte breakfast. All staff at breakfast very helpful. Staff in the Bar were a little slow but still very pleasant. It is fairly priced for London and because of its location I would stay there again.
Top Tip: Because of its proximity to the shops leave some room in your case!

Upon arrival we had to wait 25 minutes in a queue to check-in, others had been waiting for an hour, even though I had booked on-line! - The staff were very polite. The hotel was very well presented and clean - the next day we had to wait another 20minutes in a queue for breakfast - the hotel management seriously needs to review their processes and the negative effect it has on customer experience ?

Welcoming staff, easy check-in / out. Room was clean and well appointed layout of the room was different but worked, loved the headboard. Whilst no food was partaken of the menu appeared to offer a range of choice and prices to suit most pockets given the location of the hotel.
Top Tip: Range of eateries for all price ranges within easy walking distance
