The United Arab Emirates – or UAE - is the new kid on the holiday circuit. Occupying the southern horn of the Persian Gulf, just seven hours’ flight away, it is made up of seven states, called emirates, each with a unique story to tell but all with toasty year-round sunny climes. Let’s cut to the chase, a holiday to the UAE comes with guaranteed good weather, crystal blue waters and lots of the sandy stuff.
Dubai, the most well-known of the bunch, certainly punches its weight given it is only half the size of the largest state,
Abu Dhabi. This City of Gold lives up to its nickname, full of glitz and glamour and not afraid to show it off. Your eyes will feast on dazzling skylines, man-made palm islands, uber-luxurious hotels, sparkling seas, and the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. Just next door, flaunting a more authentic look, is Dubai’s neighbour Abu Dhabi, here you can relax in a more subtle, gentle luxury. Don’t forget the other five emirates -
Ras Al Khaimah,
Ajman,
Fujairah,
Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain as they deserve a look in. Adrenaline junkies will love Ras Al Khaimah’s zipline, the World’s Longest, stretching 2.83 kilometres down from the Jebel Jais mountain while Fujairah offers time-out with a more laid-back beach scene – the diving and snorkelling here is top notch in the Gulf of Oman.
