Holidays to Runaway Bay
Situated on Jamaica’s northern coast, Runaway Bay is a 1 street village lined with all inclusive resorts and shops. Once an escape route for slaves, hence the name, it’s now an established tourist destination with amazing snorkelling and diving opportunities. Many of the seafront resorts have their own private stretches of beach and night time entertainment venues.
Due to the shallow waters cruise ships don’t dock on this lovely stretch of white sand, so it doesn’t get too crowded.
Cardiff Hall Beach
At the west end of Runaway Bay, this stretch of white sand and calm shallow blue waters is a public, free beach.
Coyaba River Garden and Museum
This 3-acre garden displays culture from the first settlers, plus the Mahoe waterfalls and native flora and fauna.
The home of Jamaica's first millionnaire is now open to the public and houses an array of shops and restaurants.
Spot blue mangroves, herons and pelicans in this park. Hire a glass-bottomed boat so you can also see the marine life.
Take a guided tour through waterfalls and natural pools. Remember to bring waterproof shoes as the rocks are slippy.
Juicy crunchy chicken in a hot sauce of local spices usually eaten straight off the barbeque.
Try this local speciality, actually a huge sea snail, in a curry, soup or as crunchy fritters.
Priory has a party every Sunday night. You can enjoy the rhythm of reggae music all night long.
The Runaway Sports Bar and Grill
Friendly staff host themed parties and karaoke here regularly, and serve great spicy jerk food.
