Holidays to Zakynthos Town
Zante's capital is the largest city on the southeast coast and many lively bars and restaurants can be found around the beautiful blue bay. Although perhaps more low key than other areas on the island, there is much to see and do. An earthquake in 1953 devastated the town but many monuments have since been restored to their former glory. Sightseers will love exploring the museums, churches and castles or taking it easy on the lovely beaches.
Only 3km south east of the town, this pebbly beach, full of bars and cafes, has shallow waters perfect for children.
With its glimmering, exotic waters, Banana is the largest beach on the island, with sundecks available for rent.
Agios Dionisios (St Denis) Church
The largest church in the town survived the 1953 earthquake. An impressive sight with a stunning wooden temple.
Used during the years of Venetian occupation, this castle has panoramic views of the island.
Horse and carriage ride
After dinner, take a traditional Greek ride along the waterfront and through the old town. A lazy way to end the day.
An evening of shopping
From jewellery stores, to toy shops and men's clothing outlets, all tastes are catered for in the shopping areas.
A chance to be more daring and exotic. Sample local delicacies, including animals like rooster, rabbit and wild boar.
Local traditional dishes
Enjoy delicious Greek food such as bekri meze, pork, kefalotyri cheese, mushrooms and olives.
A chic venue near the main square in Bohali. Enjoy magnificent views of the island from one of the balcony terraces.
For young tourists wanting after hours tunes, Factory more than provides with an impressive array of international DJs.
