Holidays to Faliraki
WHY FALIRAKI?
It may be a famous party resort, but a holiday to Faliraki offers much more than banging bars and cool clubs. Overlooking the Aegean Sea, this bustling town in north-east Rhodes is jam-packed with sandy beaches, from ginormous Faliraki Beach to the small, sheltered cove of Anthony Quinn Bay.
Head to the centre of town for some low-key sightseeing: the Town Hall and lovely Saint Nectarios Church are two of the main landmarks. You won’t be able to resist wandering down the many narrow laneways, which are lined with houses, shops, bars, and eateries. The busiest of these is Ermoi Street, Faliraki’s party strip, and the nearby Kallithea Avenue, which has long been a Mecca for clubbers at large.
Faliraki harbour is worth a visit first thing in the morning when fishermen land their catch. Take a peek at the dinky blue-roofed monastery of Agioi Apostoloi, which still hosts religious ceremonies today.
There’s no shortage of things to do on the main beach, where you’ll find 5km of golden sand. Take a dip, rent a sunlounger, or get your kicks riding at top speed on a banana boat. Head south for quieter, sheltered spots like Kathara Beach and Anthony Quinn Bay.
No trip to Faliraki would be complete without a visit to its award-winning water park, the largest in Greece. Extreme slides, splash pools, a kids’ pirate ship, and plenty of places to eat and drink make this an uber-fun way to spend the day.
Ready to Greek out? Enjoy all that Aegean island life has to offer on a holiday to Faliraki.
