On the west coast of Turkey, Didim (also known as Didyma) is a seaside holiday resort that's favoured by those who like their trips hot and peaceful. It's also popular with Turkish families from nearby Ankara, who started building private holiday homes here in the 1980s. Didim's international appeal is shown in the high number of international towns and cities it's twinned with, including Gibraltar. Local attractions range from the serene to the soaking wet. Families can have a fun day out at either of Didim's waterparks, Luna Park and Aquapark. By way of a quiet contrast, you can visit the nearby ruins of the Temple of Apollo - legend has it that the oracle here in Didim was second only to Delphi's in importance. Didim is close to Lake Bafa Nature Park, with ancient, untouched olive trees and slopes on the north side, and the highway to Bodrum and Milas to the south.
The most commonly spoken language is Turkish.
