Holidays to Mellieha

Tucked in the north of Malta, Mellieha is the proud mother of glorious beaches — arguably some of the best in Malta! Naturally, this is a major magnet for holidaymakers in the summer, especially as it boasts picturesque scenes and a snapshot into authentic village living.  

Into all things history? Mellieha is where you need to be. Check out the Nature and History Park or sink your teeth into a little WW2 memorabilia at a Maltese air-raid shelter. Wherever you go, there’s plenty of opportunities to brush up on your next dinner party topic while also topping up your tan! Head for St Agatha’s Tower for spectacular views of Mellieha, Paradise Bay, and beyond. 

Make sure to stop in at the Popeye Village before you leave. It was built as a film set for the Popeye musical starring Robin Williams in the ‘80s, but now it’s full of colourful activities and attractions for guests of all ages. The set runs as an open-air museum where you’ll be greeted by the Sailor Man himself and hosts a bucketload of memorabilia and Insta-worthy backgrounds. Enjoy a delicious meal overlooking the bay before stopping for a cocktail or two at the on-site winery. 

You’ll find yourself surrounded by nature at the Ghadira Nature Reserve, a 7ac protected area which is home to a range of wildlife and plenty of native birds, as well as those on their migrations. Or take a walk around the Il-Majjistral Nature and History Park which also offers up gorgeous views of the glistening Med and sandy beaches.
