Holidays to Varca
Situated in south Goa, Varca is renowned for its long uninterrupted wide beaches. Once a quiet fishing village recent development has seen a few resorts and holiday apartment blocks spring up along Varca beach but Varca remains much quieter and less developed than other areas in the region. Essentially it is still a sleepy settlement perfect for a laidback break and refreshingly free of the party crowd that enjoys other areas of Goa.
A 10km long clean wide sandy beach, calm and relaxing with the occasional food shack, backed by palm trees.
A continuation of Varca beach, Fatrade beach is popular with weekend Indian tourists but is very quiet during the week.
Our Lady of Gloria church
A perfect sugar coated Goan church, one of the oldest buildings in the whole of Varca. Impressive.
Cabo de Rama Fort
Perched on a cape with great views, this ruined fort is one of Goa’s oldest coastal sites.
A rare species of bottlenose dolphin inhabits the waters nearby and boats will take you to see them cavorting.
The nearby Val River has river cruises, which are truly a superb way to get into nature and wildlife.
This meaty fish is juicy, tasty and great grilled with salad – enjoy it by the sea with a cold drink.
Enjoy this world-famous noodle dish with peanuts and beansprouts, cooked in authentic style.
The odd spontaneous party breaks out in the beach shacks but star gazing is the main nightlife in Varca.
Go to the casino
At 4000 square feet, the Zuri White Sands Casino near Varca beach is one of the biggest in south Goa.
